I’m always up for a challenge, especially if it can help me catch up with my annual reading goals! 😅 A few weeks ago @afroshereads told me about @thereadingrush and the wait seemed like forever. Time really flies because today marks the first day of the readathon! I was reminded by a few posts from others so I officially signed up then gathered a few picks to participate! I have from today through July 26 to read the following titles:
⠀
⠀
📚 Read a book matching the color of your birthstone – This Is Major: Notes on Diana Ross, Dark Girls, and Being Dope by Shayla Lawson (Amethyst) @harperperennial #gifted
⠀
📚 Read a book that starts with the word ‘the’ – The Black God’s Drums by P. Djèlí Clark
⠀
📚 Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve seen – For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf by Ntozake Shange (Star studded cast 🙌🏾 Whew!)
⠀
📚 Read the first book you touch – The Chiffon Trenches: A Memoir by André Leon Talley (Yep, I’m savoring this one) @readitforward #gifted
⠀
📚 Read a book completely not inside your house – The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up: A Magical Story by Marie Kondo (Perhaps reading on the porch will stop the urge to trash everything for an unobtainable minimalist lifestyle 😅.)
⠀
📚 Read a book in a least read genre – Trouble the Saints by Alaya Dawn Johnson (Three words: Historical fiction fantasy 🙌🏾)
⠀
📚 Read a book that takes place on a different continent that yours -So Long a Letter by Mariama Bâ (Africa)
⠀
*Because I’m an over achiever, I have bonus reads:
⠀
📚 How We Fight for Our Lives: A Memoir by Saeed Jones @seanathanpolidore #gifted ⠀
📚 All Boys Aren’t Blue: A Memoir-Manifesto by George M. Johnson
⠀
I tried to set myself up for success by picking shorter books. 🤞🏾 We’ll see 😅!
⠀
What are you reading this week? Are you participating in this readathon?
⠀
*I missed today’s photo challenge, but tomorrow I am on it! 😄 Well, I have to go! I have a lot of reading to do 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️!
⠀
💋 xoxo,
Kat
